How Does a Booster Compressor Work?
The OBS 18-D is not a standard compressor that draws air directly from the atmosphere. It receives pre-compressed air from a primary compressor and raises it to the higher pressure required by a specific production process.
This arrangement allows only the point of use requiring 30 bar to be boosted instead of operating the entire compressed-air network at high pressure. The primary compressor must provide sufficient pressure and airflow for stable booster operation.
30 Bar Outlet Pressure
The OBS 18-D delivers 3.78 m³/min at 7 bar inlet pressure, 4.76 m³/min at 10 bar and 5.58 m³/min at 12 bar. Insufficient inlet pressure or primary-compressor capacity can reduce the available outlet airflow and affect system stability.
Booster selection should therefore be based on inlet pressure, required outlet pressure, airflow, operating duration and the consumption profile of the connected equipment.
Screw Technology and Control
The two-stage screw compression system supports stable operation in applications with continuous air demand. Its 1:1 direct-coupled drive transfers motor power directly to the screw element. VFD control adjusts motor speed according to air demand, supporting controlled energy use.
The Maestro controller provides access to operating values, warnings and maintenance information. A large radiator package and symmetrical cooling system help manage operating temperature during intensive production.
