7 Common Causes of Low Pressure

1. Insufficient water supply: The pump cannot maintain rated pressure if the incoming water flow is too low.

2. Clogged inlet filter: Sand, rust and debris can restrict the water reaching the pump.

3. Air in the system: Air pockets or an inlet-side air leak can cause pulsating or unstable pressure.

4. Clogged or worn nozzle: A blocked nozzle disturbs flow, while an oversized or worn nozzle can reduce working pressure.

5. Hose, gun or connection leaks: Damaged O-rings, loose fittings or hose leaks can reduce pressure at the gun.

6. Unloader valve problem: A stuck, worn or incorrectly adjusted unloader can divert too much water away from the high-pressure circuit.

7. Worn pump seals or valves: If the simple checks are clear, worn seals, valves or piston components may be responsible.
